Workcamp weeks and weekends at Moon Beach Camp

Shoreline Restoration Edition
The spring week will concentrate on implementing the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) plan to restore the unique shoreline at Moon Beach. We will be planting native plants, trees, and shrubs along the lake toward Vesper Point. This project includes widening the sidewalk, testing various deer repellant systems, and creating numerous irrigation systems including rain gardens and barrels.

Under the guidance of the DNR and in conjunction with the Alma/Moon Lake District, we hope to re-establish the shoreline, help control erosion and water runoff, and positively impact the environment for years to come. This event promises to be both educational and spiritual as we restore the shoreline back to God’s original plan!

Adopt-A-Cabin Edition
Ever since our camps were established, generous volunteers have helped build and maintain the many building and spaces that are part of these special places apart from the over-developed, busy spaces of our lives. More recently, over the last three years, many of these generous souls have gathered at camp to attend to the needs of our lakefront cabins at Moon Beach.

This year we’ll be continuing this long-standing tradition of generosity and action by attending to several more lakefront cabins in need. In 2008 many wonderful people committed to “adopt-a-cabin” — where they financed and fixed a cabin in need. Mix new carpet, windows, roofs, and paint with some TLC and you have the recipe for a fun event. If you have a willingness to participate in this process or you have a group looking for a mission, then this week is for you!
