Whether you use a point and
click camera or a digital SLR, capturing pictures is one of the great
long-lasting joys of life. Beyond the beauty pictures capture at the
moment, they record history. Pictures ignite memories of the past when a
box of old pictures is opened and shared. Surely, some of the most
treasured possessions most people would want to save in a fire are the
family pictures.
Camp is full of perfect
pictures just waiting to be captured. There are hundreds of great action
shots, quieter pictures where someone is sitting and relaxing or simply
fishing. There are great nature pictures like the fog on the lake in the
morning or catching a hummingbird as it floats in the air near a bright
flower. And, of course, there are plenty of opportunities to
capture the memories shared with friends. There is no shortage of
subject matter on which we can experiment as we learn. |

Over the course of this week
we’ll talk a lot about the basics of taking good pictures. We’ll talk
about lighting, taking pictures in very dark settings, how to compose a
great picture — and much more. We’ll also have several pro photographers
visit during the week to share their tips. We’ll print many of the
pictures, and put together a CD of the best pictures of the week for
each participant.
Of course we’ll do more than
take pictures. The week will also include plenty of the activities you
would expect at camp — like swimming, boating, canoeing, campfires, and
much more.
Pack your digital camera and
prepare to experience a great week of fun and photography!
This event is for
participants who have completed 7th through 12th grades.
