Moon Beach Cabins Foundation Restoration

The Moon Beach Cabins Restoration Campaign aims to preserve and restore the historic cabins at Moon Beach Camp, ensuring their longevity for generations to come. These cabins serve as the backbone of hospitality and sanctuary for guests.

  • Preserve Our Heritage: These cabins, steeped in history and rustic charm, stand as symbols of our shared experiences and cherished moments at Moon Beach. However, time and the elements have taken their toll, demanding our immediate attention.
  • Critical Need for Restoration: The foundations, constructed decades ago with cinder blocks, stumps, and pine posts, need restoration. Left unattended, the foundations will eventually fail. Department of Natural Resources regulations prevent rebuilding at our current shoreline location if any cabins are lost.
  • Your Impact Matters: Your support is pivotal in securing the future of Moon Beach Camp. By contributing to our restoration efforts, you’re not only ensuring the structural integrity of our cabins but also preserving a legacy for generations to come.
  • Double Your Impact: Generous donors, Reverend Milton and Trudy Staskal, have pledged $100,000 as a matching gift. Your donation will effectively double its impact, allowing us to raise a total of $200,000 and complete the restoration of the next seven priority cabins.

Situation

  • The cabins, cherished yet in need of attention, require repair to ensure longevity.
  • Department of Natural Resources regulations prohibit rebuilding at the current shoreline location if any cabins are lost due to weather or gravitational forces.
  • Repairing and restoring the foundations will ensure stability and compliance with regulatory standards, enabling maintenance for future generations.

Key Achievements

  • Successful completion of restoration work on Loon Cabin and Snipe Cabin in October 2023.
  • Commitment to proceeding only with fully funded restoration projects, ensuring financial responsibility and project sustainability.

Financial Information

  • The estimated average cost per cabin restoration is $30,000, with actual costs varying depending on specific needs.
  • Reverend Milton and Trudy Staskal have generously donated $100,000 as a matching gift, allowing us to raise a total of $200,000 for the restoration project.
