About Family Camp

Camp AweSum Family Camp provides a week-long camp for families with children on the autism spectrum. Volunteer Counselors support all the children of the families (those on the spectrum and those not on the spectrum) for three hours each morning, one hour in the afternoon, and one evening during the week of camp. Campers have all meals with their families. Volunteer Counselors will have various afternoon hours. Volunteer Counselor’s duties are finished after families leave and camp is packed up. Youth volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a group chaperone or guardian.

When not providing respite or supporting camp activities, volunteers may enjoy the many amenities and natural beauty of Moon Beach. Lodging and meals are provided for volunteers; if you would like to offset this cost, please consider making a donation.

Here’s what past volunteers had to say about their experience:

It is one of the most rewarding, life-changing, impactful experiences you will ever have. There are so many things to learn and experience, so many ways to grow and change, and so many friends that you will make along the way

I use the knowledge I learned from camp every single day! Neurodiversity is everywhere, and it is important to understand that no matter where you go, you do not know what someone is going through
